Paolo Bankero, the guy who was selected for the first pick in this year’s NBA draft, confirmed that he will play for the Italian national team in the future.
“I will definitely play for the national team – probably not this summer for Eurobasket, but next year I want to. Guaranteed. “Thanks to the Italian fans for their support,” said the guy when he chose Orlando from the first position.
Bankero is 19 years old, 208 cm tall and plays as a winger. Born in the USA, he studied at Duke, where he averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists last season.
His mother Ronda Smith Bankero is a former basketball player, and the Italian is on his father’s side – Mario played American football for Washington College. Banchero playing for the Italian national team should be of great help to the Azure in the decade ahead.
